Analog Devices Inc. EV-21569-SOM Evaluation Board

Analog Devices Inc. EV-21569-SOM Evaluation Board is a demonstration and development platform for the ADSP-2156x SHARC+ Single-Core Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). The ADSP-2156x are 32-bit, 40-bit, and 64-bit floating-point processors optimized for high-performance, audio/floating-point applications with a large on-chip SRAM, multiple internal buses that eliminate I/O bottlenecks, and innovative Digital Audio Interfaces.

The EV-21569-SOM Evaluation Board provides an easy-to-use plug-n-play reference design with all the key interfaces made available for customers to interface to from their custom hardware ahead of the release of the processor itself.

The EV-21569-SOM ships with all of the necessary hardware to get the user up and running to enable fast prototyping for a wide range of applications. These applications include immersive 3D sound and personal audio zones (PAZ), automotive active and road noise cancellation (ANC/RNC), voice-based user-interfaces and in-car communications (ICC), engine sound synthesis (ESS), and electric vehicle warning sound systems (EVWSS/AVAS). Additional applications include professional audio and soundbars / home AVRs (with 3D Object and Multi-Channel Audio) and enhanced conferencing systems.

The Analog Devices Inc. EV-21569-SOM Evaluation Board is designed to run as a standalone unit. The Evaluation Board can also be plugged into the EV-SOMCRR-EZKIT Carrier Board for a fast and easy evaluation of the processor core and system peripherals/interfaces.

CrossCore® Embedded Studio

The Analog Devices Inc. EV-21569-SOM Evaluation Board utilizes the CrossCore Embedded Studio (CCES) development tools to enable developers to achieve faster time to market. The development environment aids advanced application code development and debug, such as:

  • Create, compile, assemble, and link application programs written in C++, C, and assembly
  • Load, run, step, halt, and set breakpoints in application programs
  • Read and write data and program memory
  • Read and write core and peripheral registers

CCES also offers SHARC developers highly integrated add-in support for drivers, services, and algorithmic software modules. These include driver support for on-chip and off-chip peripherals, stacks for Ethernet and USB, a popular real-time operating system and file system, and more.
