Analog Devices Inc. LTC3870DUF-1 Demo Board DC2454A

Analog Devices Inc. LTC3870DUF-1 Demo Board DC2454A is an evaluation board featuring a high current, high efficiency, poly-phase synchronous buck converter example circuit based on the LTC3887EUJ-1, a dual-phase current mode controller, and the LTC3870EUF-1, a dual-phase slave controller. The DC2454A uses DrMOS in the power stage and inductor DCR sensing. The input voltage range of this Demonstration Circuit Board is from 7V to 14V, and the output voltage can be programmed from 0.8V to 1.8V. The output current is up to 100A with a 4-phase operation. The factory default setting for the output is 1V. The DC2454A Board also has an onboard dynamic load circuit to evaluate the transient performances.

The DC2454A powers up to default settings and produces power based on configuration resistors or NVM without the need for any serial bus communication. This allows easy evaluation of the DC-DC converter aspects of the LTC3887-1. The DC1936A can also be attached to a PC using the Analog Devices Inc. DC1613A USB to I2C/SMBus/PMBus Controller, and the free-to-download LTpowerPlay® GUI. LTpowerPlay allows the user to reconfigure the LTC3887-1 on the fly and store the configuration settings within its onboard EEPROM, along with viewing telemetry parameters that include voltage, current, temperature, and fault status.

LTpowerPlay GUI Software

LTpowerPlay is a powerful Windows-based development environment that supports Analog Devices Inc. Power Management ICs (PMICs). LTpowerPlay can be used to evaluate the PMICs by connecting to a Demo Board system. LTpowerPlay can also be used in an offline mode (with no hardware present) in order to build a multichip configuration file that can be saved and reloaded at a later time.

LTpowerPlay can function as a diagnostic tool during board bring-up to program or tweak the power management scheme in a system, or to diagnose power issues when bringing up rails. The software also includes an automatic update feature to keep the software current with the latest set of device drivers and documentation.
